SC constitutes committee to investigate into Shikarpur Karokari case

Karachi: Supreme Court (SC) has constituted committee under DSP Abdul Qudoos Kulhar for arrest of members of Jirga and investigation into the matter of killing of girls being declared as kari by jirga in Larkana.

SC bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Tassaduq Hussain Jillani took up suo motu notice on Shikarpur karo-kari case for hearing Friday.

The court ordered that the case be investigated within a week and report on arrest of nominated accused be presented before it.

DIG Larkana Khadim Hussain Rind said raids are being conducted for arrest of the accused in both the cases of murder and jirga. More time may please be given for arresting the accused persons.

The court expressed displeasure over non arrest of the accused.

Acting IG Iqbal Mehmood told the court earlier one sub inspector was investigating the case. Now joint team has been constituted. Second FIR of the incident has been registered wherein 13 accused including Ghaus Bakhsh Mehr have been nominated. No one among the accused has been arrested so far. Raids are being conducted.

The court ordered that investigation be completed within two week and challan be presented besides handing over the case file to new investigation team.
