SC orders for production of accused allegedly involved in human trafficking

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has issued orders for production of the accused Israr Ahmad in the court who is allegedly involved in human trafficking. This order was issued by a 2-member bench of SC headed by Justice Nasir ul Mulk after hearing the application filed by superintendent Adiala jail here Tuesday.

Superintendent Adiala jail had requested the court that Israr Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Nabi had been receiving money from the people for sending them abroad and he has to return Rs 1.8 million to people as yet. Inquiry was held upon it and challan was presented in the special court. Israr Ahmad was awarded 7 years prison term and fined to the tune of Rs 200000. High Court reduced the prison term to 5 years. Later petition was filed in high court that the accused had served his jail term while the accused was to serve 2 years more prison term being default on payment of fine. However he was released on the order of high court.

He prayed the court to set aside this order of the high court and issue orders for arresting the accused.

The court had issued summon notice to the accused but he had not appeared.

The court on the request of Additional Advocate General (AAG) Punjab Razzaq A Mirza has ordered FIA to produce the culprit before it on next hearing.

Hearing of the case was adjourned for indefinite period.
