SC summons chief secretary Punjab & advocate general in case pertaining to payment of sugarcane to farmers by sugar mills

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan, while conducting hearing of case pertaining to payment of amounts of sugarcane to farmers by sugar mills, has summoned chief secretary Punjab and advocate general on the next hearing.

Three-member bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed on Monday conducted hearing of case pertaining to payment of amounts of sugarcane to farmers by sugar mills.

The court said that cane commissioner; senior member board of revenue and owners of the mills also appear in the court on next hearing.

The court, while expressing annoyance on non-appearance of chief executives of sugar mills, summoned the Chief Executives Officers (CEOs) of three sugar mills.

During the hearing of the case on Monday, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed said that CEOs of the three mills were summoned on the previous hearing, saying that chief executives making fun of orders of the court.

Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed said that non-bailable arrest warrants will be issued for the one who will not appear on the next hearing. The court adjourned hearing of the case till tomorrow (Wednesday).
