SC withdraws contempt of court notice against IG FC in missing person’s case

ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has withdrawn contempt of court notice against IG FC Maj Gen Ejaz Shahid following his appearance in the court in missing persons case.

A 2-member bench of SC headed by Justice Nasir ul Mulk took up missing persons and Balochistan violence case for hearing Thursday.

Irfan Qadir, counsel for IG FC told the court Maj Gen Ejaz Shahid could not appear in the court on December, 5, 2013 due to illness and “ he is present in the court today”.

IG FC told the court that FC was charged with kidnapping the people.

The court inquired then what action has been taken by FC.

Counsel for IG FC told the court “ one missing person Kao Khan has been recovered. The charge which was levied against 6 FC personnel has proved wrong. Report on missing persons will be filed with registrar office.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till January, 15.

It may be recalled that a 3-member bench of SC presided over by the former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry had issued contempt of court notice to IG FC on December, 5 for not appearing in the court despite being summoned by apex court in missing persons case.

Counsel for FC had taken plea that IG FC was admitted into hospital due to heart problem, therefore, he could not appear in the court.
