LAHORE: .Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that the government and its allies are on the same page to compete with the opposition in the Senate elections. He said that open ballot and elimination of horse-trading will give honour to vote in the Senate elections. After March 26, there will be no change other than change of date.

According to details, Secretary-General of PML-Q and Federal Minister Tariq Bashir Cheema called on Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar at Governor’s House Lahore and discussed various administrative and political matters. Both leaders reiterated their determination to defeat the opposition in the Senate elections.

During the meeting, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that the government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan is moving forward with its allies, and the government is also fully supporting the candidates of the allies in the Senate elections. He said that people will decide by the power of vote in next general elections that which party will be in the power and which party will be in opposition. He maintained that the candidates of the government and its allies will win the Senate elections and will continue to work together for the development of the country.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that no long march of the opposition will bring any ”change’ in the country. PDM will fail in March 2021, March 2022 and March 2023, adding he said that the government and Prime Minister Imran Khan will complete the last day of their constitutional term in 2023. He said that the opposition should also give up the politics of stubbornness because it has become a threat to the opposition itself. Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that the meetings of the PDM leaders make no difference to the government. The government has initiated work on electronic voting system for general elections and the government is keen on ensuring transparency in the elections.

Federal Minister Tariq Bashir Cheema said that PTI allies stand with the government for the development and prosperity of the country. The opposition should also play a positive role in the interest of the country. The government and its allies will emerge victorious in the Senate elections, he added.
