Senate approves ECL amendment bill

ISLAMABAD: The senate has approved the bill pertaining to amendment in the Exit Control List (ECL). It was stated in the content of the bill that the government will give reasons before placing name on the ECL.

It was said in the bill passed by the senate that the concerned person or institution will be informed in 24 hours after placing their name on ECL and the decision will have to be taken in 15 days on the appeal of the person placed on the ECL otherwise his name will be struck from the ECL. The senate unanimously approved the bill.

The bill regarding further amendment in Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services Act 2008 was also tabled. The bill was tabled by the senator Sassui Palijo. The government supported the bill. It was said in the bill that training will also be provided to bureaucracy along with the parliamentarians in the PIPS. Chairman senate handed over the bill to the concerned standing committee.

Constitutional amendment bill pertaining to making the new benches of the high courts was also tabled in the senate; Senator Javaid Abbasi proposed amendment in sections 3 and 4 of the article 194 of the constitution.

Banking Companies Ordinance amendment bill of Senator Raza Rabbani was also approved. It was said in the bill that there should be no ban on trade unions in banks. The condolence resolution on the passing away of the former senator Ehsanul Haq Piracha was also approved.
