Senate informed about oil import bill from 2007 to 2013

ISLAMABAD: The Senate was informed on Wednesday that oil import bill from 2007 to 2013 stood at over seventy three billion dollars.

Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal Khan informed the House during question hour that there is no impact on Pak rupee depreciation on import bill which is being paid in dollar terms. “However‚ domestic prices are affected due to Pak rupee depreciation,” he added.

To a question‚ Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali told the House that average daily consumption of electricity till end of November last year was 8146 megawatt against the average daily generation of 9752 megawatt.

He said that of this Punjab produced 4758 megawatt‚ Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) 1525‚ Sindh 1623‚ Balochistan 673 and Azad Jammu and Kashmir 1175 megawatt.

On a point of order raised by Mian Raza Rabbani‚ Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Riaz Hussain Pirzada said that preparations are being made to hold the meeting of Council of Common Interests.

He said that there were some administrative and others issues due to which the session could not be held in ninety days.

Members belonging to opposition benches staged a token walkout against the anti-labour steps of the government and the promotion of crony capitalism.
