Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar hold breakfast meeting with Diplomatic Corps

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and PTI Secretary General Asad Umar in a "Breakfast Meeting" with Diplomatic Corps discussed the regional and overall political situation of the country threadbare.

The "breakfast meeting" was arranged by Neil Hawkins, High Commissioner of Australia to Pakistan here on Tuesday.

Apart from PTI senior leadership, a large number of ambassadors of European and Muslim countries participated in the breakfast meeting.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi stated that they discussed the regional and overall political situation of the country during the meeting in detail.

He said that “In the meeting, we informed the participants about PTI’s point of view pertaining to conducting free, fair and transparent elections as per the schedule and putting an end on the prevailing political instability in the country. Qureshi thanked Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins for organizing the meeting.

Meanwhile PTI focal person for Economy and PTI General Secretary Central Punjab Hammad Azhar lashed out at the inept government for pushing the country into the worst economic crisis, which, he said, only focused on dealing with PTI Chairman Imran Khan in an undemocratic and unconstitutional manner.

Hammad Azhar, in a statement on Tuesday, said that the economy continued to spiral downwards despite oil at almost half the price now internationally. He said that much like democratic credentials and human rights record of the PDM regime. Domestic borrowing and inflation has spiked three times compared to PTI's time last year.

Hammad went on to say that oil at almost half the price now internationally but ironically soared alarming multiplying the public woes manifolds.

Talking about the ruling parties meeting, he stated that all and most rejected political elite of Pakistan sat for six hours. However, he added that no one discussed the state of the economy, the storm of inflation, closed businesses and the plight of the poor.

“The only issue was Imran Khan and dealing with him in an undemocratic and unconstitutional manner,” he added.

About police excessive use of power, Hammad stated that government should ensure that arbitrary or abusive use of force and firearms by law enforcement officials was punished as a criminal offense.

“Superior officers should be held responsible if they knew or should have known that personnel under their command,” he added.
