KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) has commuted death sentence of Shah Rukh Jatoi and Seraj Talpur into life term  besides upholding life imprisonment of two accused Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza in Shahzeb murder case.

The court rejected the appeals filed by Sajjad Talpur and Ghulam Murtaza in connection with  compromise.

The counsel for the petitioner took the plea that the petitioner and father of victim has died who has left behind a  widow and two daughters .  All the three females are abroad and they don’t  want to come to the court. The court’s representative can verify through skype.

It is pertinent to mention here that SHC earlier while announcing Shahzeb murder case had  ordered to release all the arrested culprits including major accused on bail.

Civil society had filed appeal in Supreme Court (SC) against high  court decision.

The former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar while accepting the petition had constituted 3-member bench besides ordering for re-arresting the accused and placing their  names on ECL.

An anti-terrorism court had sentenced Shahrukh Jatoi and his friend Nawab Siraj Ali Talpur to death in June 2013, while two other co-accused were awarded life imprisonment for killing 20-year-old Shahzeb Khan on Dec 25, 2012 near his home in the Defence Housing Authority.
