Shaukat Tareen advises govt to establish Holding Company

ISLAMABAD: Former Minister for Finance Shaukat Tareen has advised the government to establish a holding company for the reinstatement and future of national institutions facing financial deficits.

Details said, under this holding company, national institutions including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) will be enlisted in a balance sheet and then decision regarding their privatization will be taken.

Sources said, former Finance minister has presented this advice to reduce the burden on national exchequer and to divide departments which should be privatized and which should be made profitable by bringing reforms in them.

Sources said, Shaukat Tareen has also presented his advices to government in regard to solve the energy crises that Pakistan could fully take the benefit of GSP Plus status given European Union (EU).

Sources also said, government has seriously started mulling over the advices of former finance minister and it is expected that very soon it will establish the Holding Company to decide the future of national institutions.
