Sheikh Rashid stopped at Islamabad Airport

ISLAMABAD: Senior politician and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid Ahmed was stopped from leaving for Canada at the Benazir International Airport due to unknown reasons here on Friday.

Speaking to Private TV, Sheikh Rashid said that he was told by the PIA authorities that he was not allowed to fly. He said that he was stopped for unknown reasons as his name was not on the Exit Control List.

Rasheed was due to fly Canada via flight PK-718, but he was offloaded shortly at Benazir International Airport, Islamabad by the immigration officials due to non-issuance of clearance.

The AML chief was scheduled to address a rally in Canada on March 23.

Sheikh Rasheed strongly criticized the government for barring him travelling abroad.
