Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: As many as six ship C.V CMA CGM Eiffel, C.V Kerstin-S, C.V Tessa, M.V Inlaco Brave, M.V MPP Shield and M.T Quetta carrying containers, wheat, project cargo and furnace oil were allotted berths at Qasim International Container Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively at Port Qasim on Thursday, Port sources said here on Friday.

Meanwhile another containers ship ‘MSC Levina’ also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at fifty seven percent on Thursday where eight ships namely C.V CMA CGM Eiffel, C.V Kerstin-S, C.V Tessa, M.V Vogeeva, M.V Inlaco Brave, M.V Theo Flaktos, M.V MPP Shield and M.T Quetta are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, rice, project cargo, wheat, sunflower seeds and furnace oil respectively.

A cargo volume of 95894 tonnes, comprising 71107 tonnes imports and 24787 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2834 containers (TEUs) (1725 imports and 1109 exports TEUs) were handled at the Port during the last 24 hours.

Container Vessel ‘CMA CGM Eiffel’ sailed out to sea on Friday morning while three more ships C.V Kerstin-S, C.V Tessa and M.V MPP Shield are expected to sail on same day.

C.V MSC Levina carrying containers is expected to take berth at Container Terminal on Friday, while another ship M.V Alam Manis is due to arrive to load 46750 tonnes rice at Port Qasim on the same day.
