Shipping activity at Port Qasim

KARACHI: Oil tanker ‘Magic Victoris’ carrying 54,954 tonnes furnace oil was allotted berth at FOTCO oil terminal at Port Qasim on Sunday, Port sources sad here on Monday.

Two more ships ‘Maersk Denver’ and ‘Maritime Gisela’ with containers and palm oil also arrived at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

Berth occupancy was managed at the Port at fifty percent on Sunday where seven ships namely C.V Sarah, M.V Vogeeva, M.V Alam Manis, M.V Inlaco Brave, M.V AS Valdivia, M.T Atlantic Glory and M.T Magic Victoris are currently occupying berths to load/ offload containers, rice, wheat, fertiliser, chemicals and furnace oil respectively.

According to Port sources a cargo volume of 98,402 tonnes, comprising 66,636 tonnes imports and 31,766 tonnes exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,593 containers (TEUs) (162 imports and 1,431 exports TEUs) were handled at the Port during the last 24 hours.

Container Vessel ‘MSC Sarah’ sailed out to sea on Monday morning while two more ships M.T Atlantic Glory and M.V Vogeeva are expected to sail on same day afternoon.

Three ships C.V Maersk Denver, C.V Nysted Maersk and M.T Maritime Gisela carrying containers and palm oil are expected to take berths at Container Terminal and Liquid Terminal respectively on Monday.

Two more ships C.V Sudair and C.V Maersk Kalamata are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday.
