Sindh faces clean drinking water and drainage issues: Nasir shah

KARACHI: Provincial Minister Sindh Local government Syed Nasir Shah chaired meeting with World Bank officers at Sindh local government office on Tuesday.

Sindh government works with World Bank, said Nasir shah, to provide facilities to its people on World Health Organization scales, as we are facing the drinking water and sanitation problems including the problems due to consumption of underground water.

Sindh government wants to use world bank financial aid, he continues, to enhance the projects toward more practical and public interest.

View has also been exchanged to enhance the projects for provision of clean drinking water and sanitation of Karachi cities.

Karachi’s increasing population and rational requirements also increasing the necessities of drinking water, sanitation and desalination plant for which Sindh government is working.

World Bank representative also briefed meeting on projects they are working on in Pakistan

Water and Sanitation project officers including Mugabi Josses from World Bank were present in the meeting with Secretary local government Sindh Najam shah, especial secretary municipalities Usman Muhazim, secretary public health engineering Akhtar hussain Bugti and director Karachi water sewerage sustainability improvement project (KWSIP) Salah Ud din and other officers.

Provincial Minister appreciated the World Bank projects.

Secretary Municipalities also briefed meeting on water and sanitation system Karachi.

Secretary public health engineering Akhtar Husain Bugti also showed interest for world banks support for clean water and sanitation projects in rural areas of province.
