Summary sent to OGRA for raise in gas prices

ISLAMABAD: Sui Southern Gas Pipelines Limited (SSGPL) and Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) companies have sent summary to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to raise gas prices of both domestic and commercial consumers.

The SSGPL wants raise of 41 rupees and 26 paisa per cubic and SNGPL wants 96 rupees and 80 paisa per cubic while OGRA will resume hearings over purposed summary on January 22, 2014.

According to Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), SSGPL will cover up revenue shortfall of 14 billion and 400 million rupees with this raise.

According to SNGPL, the institution is bearing 53 billion rupees revenue short fall and it has sent summary to meet this short fall. The new raise in gas prices will also bring new wave of price hike and it would affect domestic users and industries as well.
