The NA passes the Pakistan Ruet e Hilal Bill 2022

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has passed the Pakistan Ruet-e-Hilal Bill 2022.

Rs 50000 fine and 3 years imprisonment will be imposed on those making false evidence of moon sighting.

Now Deputy Commissioner will be able to sight moon in addition to Central and Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.

Any private Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will not be considered.

The tenure of central, provincial and zonal committee will be of 3 years.

New Ruet-e-Hilal bill has been passed in National Assembly.

National Assembly has approved bill of Pakistan Ruet-e-Hilal bill 2022.

15-member Ruet-e-Hilal committee will be formed.

Shahadat al-Alamiya degree or MA in Islamiat with 15 years of experience has been made compulsory for the head of the committee.

2 Ulema will be included from 4 provinces.

One scholar each from Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will be members of the committee.

Qualification of Chairman Committee will be a requirement for all Ulema.

The committee will have one officer each from the Department of Meteorology, Science and Technology, SPARCO and Religious Affairs.

Zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committee will be established in four provinces and Islamabad.

The provincial committees will consist of 12 members.

The committee of Islamabad will consist of 7 members.

Relevant Deputy Commissioner will lead district committees.

Any private committee or institute will not be able to announce sighting of moon except central, provincial and district committees.

A fine of up to 5 lakh rupees can be imposed on violators of law.

10 lac rupees fine or cancellation of license can be imposed to those who broadcast news on relevant TV channel before the official announcement of Ruet-e-Hilal.

Rs 50000 fine and 3 years imprisonment can be imposed on those making false evidence of moon sighting.

Chairperson of Ruet-e-Hilal Committee can be removed by majority of 2/3rd.

Government will have to issue notice for removal within seven days besides giving reasons.
