There is need of political stability to put the country on path of progress & prosperity: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

QUETTA/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice President and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Sunday urged the need of political stability to put the country on the path of progress and prosperity.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said this while talking to Journalists at Quetta Press Club along with former finance minister Dr. Miftah Ismail Ahmed, noted politician Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani in Quetta.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Constitution of Pakistan has the solution to overcome all problems. He said the judiciary should review its past decisions, urging it to rectify the injustices done to former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, whose return to Pakistan is expected soon.

He said, “I always say that it is the judiciary’s job to review the decisions that have had [adverse] effects on Pakistan. He said, “I do not want to talk about those issues. Whatever effect the judiciary’s decisions and actions have had in running this country, they have played a major role in the matters that plague the country today.”

He further said, “We all are responsible [for the current situation], including politicians, military officials, judges and the media. We are not here to blame anyone.”

Responding to another question, he said that there have been martial laws for a long time in our country and added that military’s interference in politics and has been present even at present.

He went on to say there is a need to end it (military’s interference) and bring it within Constitutional boundaries. This, he said in particular will give you the solution to the issues and added it was not possible to carry out in a single day as only time will tell about it.

Meanwhile, during in an interview with a private TV channel, Abbasi said, “I belonged to PML-N; still I am part of it; and will only go home if the need arose. “I have no annoyance against anyone including Nawaz Sharif. Nawaz needs to come back to the country but this decision could be taken only by him or his doctors as he understands the situation better than us,” he added.

The single point mandate of current government was to put the economy on the right trajectory, he said and continued they had to still take tough decisions to pull the country out of prevailing situation. He said all the parties were part of federal cabinet, adding PM Shehbaz Sharif took some tough decisions whereas he has still make other strong decisions.

Abbasi said this was not time to hurl allegations against each other but there was need to talk about the real issues being faced by the country and give their solution. Holding elections was still not a solution to the country’s problems and there was need to dig out the actual solution of these problems.
