LAHORE: Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore has rejected petitions seeking release of 12 accused persons including PTI leader and former health minister Punjab Dr Yasmin Rashid on bail in the case of torching police station Shadman, terrorism, attempt to murder and other charges.
Judge Ijaz Ahmad Buttar of ATC Lahore rejected the bail pleas of 12 accused including Dr Yasmin Rashid after hearing the case Friday.
Mian Tabassum, counsel for former provincial health minister agued during the hearing of the case his client has been nominated in the case registered under the charges of terrorism, torching police station Shadman , attempt to murder and others unjustly.
He took the plea that there is no justification to keep her in jail on completion of investigation of the case. She is old aged lady and a patient of cancer. Keeping her in jail as punishment till final decision is injustice. Therefore, Dr Yasmin Rashid should be released.
The counsel for prosecution gave arguments against the bail pleas.
The court however approved bail plea of other 22 accused who were involved in this case.
Ijaz Ahmad Buttar judge of the court remarked that most of them who have been granted bail among these 22 accused are underage. Bailiff report in support of 4 accused among them is available too.
