Torrential rain, snowfall cripples life in parts of Balochistan

Quetta: Life is crippled in Balochistan amid torrential rainfall in different areas of the province, particularly Chagai district.

Heavy falls have caused flash flooding in local nullah/riverine of Balochistan and hill torrents of DG Khan and trigger landslides in Malakand, Hazara, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir during the period.

Moreover, the rains have weakened many mud houses in Qilla Saifullah.

The weather of Quetta turned chilly by receiving snowfall in the month of March.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) sources, widespread rain and thunderstorm with snowfall over hills accompanied by windstorm in Quetta, Zhob, Kalat, Makran, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad divisions, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper Punjab – Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while at scattered places in Sibbi, Naseerabad, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Multan, DG Khan, Lahore, Faisalabad divisions, and at isolated places in Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Karachi divisions is expected in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, commuters have been undergoing difficulties while snowfall blocked several routes and highways in the country.

Several inches of snow has been recorded in Murree, Kulyat, and Shagar, leaving many local people stranded in the region.
