LAHORE: Chairman, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Chaudhry Zaka Ashraf said that he wants to work with the incumbent government led by PML-N with honour and dignity.

Speaking to media persons here on Wednesday, Ashraf said he would start going to office in the next day or two. Zaka Ashraf said there was no politics involved in cricket and his cooperation would continue irrespective of the government.

Ashraf said he respects the courts’ decisions whole-heartedly. He said, “I will try my level best to improve the administrative issues of the PCB”.

Earlier, Islamabad High Court on Wednesday restored Zaka Ashraf as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The decision to reinstate Ashraf was taken by a two-member division bench consisting of Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi and Justice Riaz Ahmed Khan.

The court accepted the intra-court appeal against an earlier decision by High Court Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui.

Where as in July 2013, the IHC in its detailed judgment had declared Ashraf’s appointment illegal and made on basis of personal relations instead of experience.

Moreover, the court ordered the Election Commission to hold PCB elections within 90 days. The decision stated that the chairman PCB should abide by article 62, 63 of the Constitution, under which a first class or test cricketer or a graduate could contest in the PCB elections.

The government had appointed Najam Sethi as the acting chairman PCB following the dismissal of Ashraf.
