Overseas Pakistanis’ right to vote will strengthen democracy: Sarwar

Lahore: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said that giving right to vote to Overseas Pakistanis will further strengthen the country and democracy.

While talking to different delegation at Governor House, Sarwar maintained that opposition parties should stop being adamant and support the government in giving the right to vote to overseas Pakistanis.There is no doubt that overseas Pakistanis are our greatest asset and the political parties who are opposing the right to vote to Overseas Pakistanis are actually negating democracy.

Governor Punjab said that Overseas Pakistanis are the custodians of national interests in foreign countries.Overseas Commission in the Centre and Punjab is working for the welfare of Pakistanis abroad and for the immediate redressal of their problems.

Sarwar said that our biggest asset is Overseas Pakistanis as they send the highest foreign exchange to Pakistan.He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has been talking about giving the right to vote to Overseas Pakistanis from day one but unfortunately, the opposition parties are still not supporting it which is completely contrary to democracy.He said that the opposition parties should stop being adamant and support the government in giving the right to vote to overseas Pakistanis.
