LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has nullified the notification for re-counting in provincial constituency PP-161 Punjab. The petition filed by Farrukh Javed Moon against recounting in PP-161 came up for hearing before Justice Shahid Karim of LHC Tuesday. Advocate Ali Jaffri appeared on behalf of petitioner. The petition said PML-N candidate Umar Sohail Zia Butt who was defeated in the election filed petition with Election Commission (EC) for recounting. EC issued notice for recounting on the petition of defeated candidate. The petitioner took the plea independent candidate was declared successful with 18000 votes in election result. All the phases of election have been completed. EC has issued forms 47, 48 and 49. As per law the EC cannot issue order for recounting after completion of election process. The court should declare the EC notice for recounting illegal.
