Vehicle plunges into ditch, 7 persons killed

Islamabad: 7 persons were killed when a vehicle plunged into ditch within the limits of Bhara Kahu police station in Islamabad.

7 persons who were killed included three women, a youth and three children.

The incident happened due to rain last night.The bodies were shifted to the Polyclinic hospital.

Islamabad police have launched further investigation into the incident. The vehicle fell into ditch due to heavy rain last night. The people on board the vehicle were going to attend the wedding.

The energy crisis is to shrink global GDP

KARACHI: Chairman of National Business Group Pakistan, President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum, and All Karachi Industrial Alliance, and former provincial minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Saturday said energy crisis is to shrink global GDP, increase poverty and degrade the environment.

The global energy crisis is resulting in the increased price of petrol, diesel, gas and coal but coal has seen the highest price surge which is up to 200 percent, he said.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that the crisis has become a big threat to global recovery but it has also provided a new lease of life to the dying coal industry.

Talking to the business community, the veteran business leader said that the demand and price of coal are increasing by leaps and bounds which has started damaging industries like power production, cement, metal, chemical, glass, textile and cotton fibre etc.

He said that 196 countries and associations have signed the Paris Agreement in 2015 to reduce the use of coal and fossil fuel to reduce the impact of climate change but many countries have disregarded this deal due to emerging fuel challenges.

Mian Zahid Hussain said that the cement industry will suffer the most in Pakistan as its production cost will increase due to reliance on imported coal and it will also hit construction activities.

The demand for cement will be reduced due to increased price fanning unemployment and stalled investments.

He said that cement production has increased to half a million tonnes thrice in the current fiscal which will go down substantially which will be a threat to private and public projects.

PML-N a frog of well, PPP boards on Samjhota Express: Sheikh Rashid

KARACHI: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has said PML-N is frog of a well and PPP has boarded on Samjhota (compromise) Express.

“ tell us not who is good and who is bad. We know who is good and who is bad. The case of killers of APS children is separate case. PML-N is frog of well and PPP is journeying by Samjhota Express”, he said this while talking to media men here Saturday.

He went on to say global scenario is going to be changed. The future politics is politics of deep waters.

He held no world superpower can bypass us. Pakistan wants an inclusive government is put in place in Afghanistan. Pakistan is in contact with US state secretary on Afghan situation. We are ready to hold talks with India on Kashmir issue.

Regarding US president Biden he said if some one comes to our country it is well and good and if he does not come then Assalamu Alakum.

Targeting US president on Afghan situation is injustice, he said adding people of US are unaware of Afghan situation..

He indicated decision about appointment of chairman NAB will be made this week.

He remarked PM Imran Khan is worried about inflation.

Regarding talks with proscribed TTP he said talks are under way at high level. We know about good and bad. The case of those who had killed children of APS is separate.

Rashid offers condolences to Mir Shakil for his mother’s demise

Karachi: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid on Saturday visited Jang and Geo media outlet’s Editor-in-Chief Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman at his place and offered his condolences on the demise of Mir Shakil’s mother.

Interior Minister prayed for Mir Shakil’s mother and expressed grievances to his family.

Sheikh Rashid said that mother is the most precious asset of any human being.

Earlier on Friday, Mehmooda Khalil-ur-Rahman, 95, had passed away in Karachi.

Her funeral prayers were offered in Karachi after Friday prayers. The funeral prayers were offered at Rahmania mosque on Tariq Road. Relatives, senior journalists, media persons, politicians, and important personalities from the social and literary world attended the funeral.

Unvaccinated people to face consequences in Sindh

Karachi: District administration, police and other concerned authorities have been directed In Sindh to take action against unvaccinated people the province in an attempt to contain further spread of corona virus in the province.

The provincial Home Department, in a letter, has directed that vaccination cards of the people visiting markets and workplaces should be checked properly so that vaccination to unvaccinated people could be ensured.

It has been further directed to the concerned authorities to check vaccination cards at restaurants, marriage halls and other places where social gatherings take place.

JI takes up Gulshin-e-Illahi issue, strategy to be announced on Oct 10

KARACHI:02 october : Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi chief Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that the JI will announce its course of action in connection with the issue of Gulshan e Illahi on Sunday, Oct 10 as the leniency of the corrupt rulers and officials have shaped a new mafia in the country that deals with the real estate sector.

The JI leader announced this after a meeting with the delegation of affectees of the project. The delegation called on Engr Naeem at the JI headquarters , Idara Noor e Haq.

The delegation informed the JI leadership that the allottees of the plots in the project were denied of possession files and the matter was subject by the builder to development charges. The amount of the development charges was ironically set multiple folds more than the original price of the plot, the delegation members said while sharing their ordeal.

The delegation further said that those who already paid development charges were also denied of the possession files and instead they were misbehaved by the administration of the builder.

The affected people pleaded the JI leadership to take up the matter and expressed their hope that the JI will bring their matter to a just end as the party did in the cases of other residential projects.

In response, the JI leadership assured the delegation that the party will not spare them. On the occasion, it was agreed that the party will announce its strategy in this regard at a convention on Oct 10 at the JI headquarters.

Prime Minister Imran calls President of Tajikistan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Imran Khan held telephonic conversation with President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan on Saturday.

The Prime Minister thanked President Rahmon for the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during the recent visit to Dushanbe on 16-17 September 2021.

The two leaders exchanged views on the follow-up to the talks held in Dushanbe last month.

The two leaders expressed satisfaction on the existing level of bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed the resolve to continue mutual efforts to further strengthen close ties.

Imran Khan shared with President Rahmon Pakistan’s contribution to efforts for sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan. He underlined the importance of national reconciliation in this context.

He underscored the urgent imperative to address the humanitarian needs of the Afghan people. The Prime Minister emphasised the important role of international community in providing necessary humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

He also highlighted the immediate importance of economic engagement with Afghanistan to prevent economic meltdown and to alleviate the sufferings of common people.

The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact with a view to further coordinating their efforts in support of peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Hike in petroleum products prices challenged in Lahore High Court

Islamabad: Recent rise in prices of petroleum products has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.

The petition was filed by the Judicial Activism Panel in which it was pleaded that the government was constantly dropping petrol bomb shell on the people, which was tantamount to depriving the people of their right .

Recent upsurge in prices of petroleum products will add to the public woes. Unnecessary price hikes in proportion to the global market will usher in a new storm of inflation.

The petitioner has prayed the court to nullify the recent hike in the prices of petroleum products.
