CM Balochistan Jam Kamal holds meetings with disgruntled MPAs

QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan Jam Kamal held late night meetings with disgruntled lawmakers of the provincial assembly in a bid to fail the no-confidence motion against him.

According to details, the chief minister visited residences of Abdul Rehman Khetran and Bushra Rind and assured them that their reservations will addressed; however, the lawmakers sought time to discuss the matter with their colleagues.

Meanwhile, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani is also arriving in Quetta to shore up support for Jam Kamal and end the differences in the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).

Earlier, Jam Kamal announced his resignation as president of the BAP.

It merits mention that that opposition MPAs of the Balochistan Assembly had submitted a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Jam Kamal.

A no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister of Balochistan was submitted to the Secretary Balochistan Assembly with the signatures of 16 members of the opposition.

Talking to media after filing no-confidence motion, opposition members said that no-confidence motion has been filed on the basis of four points.

They said that he has no right to rule over the performance of the provincial government during the last three years. In the current situation, everyone in the province wants to overthrow this government adding Balochistan is facing worst kind of corruption and looting.

Opposition members, referring to the movement, said that they had the required number for the success of the movement and would not reveal the required number at present.

Pakistani establishment, political parties on same page to convert GB into province: President AJK

Rawalakot: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Barrister Sultan Mehmood has said that Pakistani military establishment and political parties stand on same page to convert Jammu and Kashmir’s Gilgit Baltistan into Pakistan’s province.

Talking to party workers in Rawalakot on Sunday, Barrister Mehmood revealed that former AJK Prime Minister Farooq Haider and Speaker Legislature Assembly Shah Ghulam Qadir had approached him and asked him to help them in converting GB into Pakistan’s province, reported.

Barrister Sultan said that he had refused to do so, adding that ‘Pakistani leadership would never ask me or take up my opinion in converting the disputed territory into Pakistan’s province’

AJK president said that he aims to internationalize Jammu and Kashmir dispute so that movement for right of self determination for Kashmiri people could reach a conclusion.

Barrister Sultan announced commencement of local body polls in AJK in near future for transfer of power to local administrative bodies. He said that India was ‘stunned’ by Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech at UNGA session.

PTI will win by-elections with a landslide victory: PM AJK

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi, has said that the PTI will win the by-elections with a landslide victory and the process of implementation of reforms agenda has also begun to put Azad Kashmir on the path of development and prosperity.

He was talking to the former government adviser and Muslim Conference leader Raja Aftab Akram after joining PTI Azad Kashmir here on Sunday.

The Prime Minister said that the process of real change has begun to establish good governance in the state for the socio economic uplift of the people .PTI candidate Shaukat Farid and other dignitaries from Charhoi constituency were also present on the occasion.

Prime Minister welcomed Raja Aftab Akram to join PTI Azad Kashmir and discussed in detail about the by-elections. The Prime Minister said PTI will return successfully from both the constituencies and will resolve the problems being faced by the people at gross root level.

He said that the joining of the people from PPP, PML-N, Muslim Conference and other parties in PTI in droves is the manifestation of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan vision and the people consider Imran Khan as their benefactor.

He said that the whole Kashmir nation is applauding him for raising the issue of Kashmir in the UN General Assembly effectively .The Prime Minister said that the government is taking solid steps for the welfare of the people and work on mega developmental projects will be started soon.

PM Imran tasks NA speaker to liaise with opposition on electoral reforms

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has tasked Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser to liaise with the opposition on electoral reforms.

According to private TV sources, the NA speaker will seek the suggestions of the parliamentary leaders of the opposition parties on electoral reforms including Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), and right to vote to overseas Pakistanis.

Sources said that the proposals of the opposition parties would be made part of the electoral reform package.

The Speaker will also consult the opposition on amendments to the NAB rules.

Government sources said that the Prime Minister wanted electoral reforms with the consensus of the opposition parties.

PML-N demands PM’s resignation over Pandora Papers

NAROWAL: Secretary General Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Ahsan Iqbal has demanded Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan’s resignation over Pandora Papers on Sunday.

During a press conference in Narowal, the former interior minister said that now the prime minister should resign as his name has appeared in the Toshakhana case and it will also appear in the Pandora Papers. “After Imran Khan’s name surfaced in Pandora leaks, there is no moral justification for him to retain the post of the premier, ” he added.

The PML-N secretary general said that the Khan Pandora’s box is about to open. He also said that Imran Khan who boasted to be the champion of anti-corruption campaign was hiding facts regarding his foreign gifts, while Imran Khan is committing a crime by hiding the details of gifts received from foreign countries.

He was of the view that rising inflation in the country was a result of bad policies of the government. “Today a person who earns Rs25, 000 to 30, 000 a month cannot bear the expenses of his household honourably, ” he added.

The PML-N leader further said that inflation will increase further in the coming days, adding that the prime minister gave false dreams to the people on laptops. He predicted that Imran’s name would be appearing in the Pandora Papers releasing tonight. He stated that the frequent adjournments of the parliament’s sessions on quorum suggested that Imran Khan had lost confidence of the houses.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the ruling party wanted to steal next elections with the help of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Earlier, another global scandal same like Panama Papers is set to unfold as the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) will release Pandora Papers (Panama-2) today (Sunday).

According to the details garnered, another Panama Papers-style global scandal is set to be surfaced. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) will release 11.9 million documents on Sunday night. This global investigation will surpass even the Panama Papers of 2016. As many as 600 journalists and 150 media organizations from 117 countries have participated in this investigation.

According to ICIJ, the Pandora Papers project includes financial details of important personalities from 117 countries including Pakistan. Two Pakistani journalists also included in the investigation of Pandora Papers.

It was also reported that the Pandora Papers also includes financial details of several Pakistani personalities.

Federal Cabinet to review NAB chairman’s appointment, overall political scenario

Islamabad: Federal Cabinet in its meeting under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s chair on Tuesday will review appointment of Chairman of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and overall economic and political scenario of country.

A seven point agenda of the meeting was shared Sunday according to which federal cabinet would review recession in imprisonments of detainees on occasion of Eid Milaadu-Nabi (PBUH).

According to sources, Interior Ministry has suggested a cut of 90 days in imprisonment of criminals of smaller crimes. Amnesty would not imply on captives involved in murder, rape or corruption.

Cabinet will authenticate decisions taken by Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and Cabinet’s committee for energy.

Agenda also includes authentication of decisions made by cabinet committee for legislation.

No increase in Hajj, Umrah expenses

Peshawar: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Pir Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, assuring provision of best possible facilities to the intending Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, has said the government will not increase expenses this year.

Addressing a ceremony in Peshawar, he said the coronavirus pandemic has gripped the entire world and also affected the holy rituals of Hajj and Umrah.

He hoped that this year people will be allowed to perform Hajj and Umrah as the situation of coronavirus is now under control.

The Minister said the government is in contact with the Saudi government on this matter.

CISM international shooting championship starts at Lahore: ISPR

LAHORE: The opening ceremony of the 53rd World Military Shooting Championship (Shotgun) 2021 has been held at Lahore under the auspices of Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM), commonly known as the International Military Sports Council.

According to the ISPR press release Corps Commander Lahore, Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Aziz was the chief guest on the occasion. CISM international shooting championship is being organized at Lahore Garrison Shooting Gallery of Pakistan Army. More than 50 participants including 41 international shooters from Russia, France, Sri Lanka, Palestine, Kenya are participating in the event with the motto *FRIENDSHIP THROUGH SPORTS* Officials from Guinea, Iran, and Nepal are also present. Representatives of CISM, a large number of dignitaries, diplomats, and spectators witnessed the colourful and impressive opening ceremony.

This is the second time that Pakistan is holding this international Military Championship. The contest will continue till 9 October 2021 at Lahore Garrison Shooting Gallery featuring various shot gun shooting events including trap and skeet shooting for both men and women.

Companies were opened after permission of SBP: Shaukat Tarin

LAHORE: Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin has said that companies were opened for investment purpose with the permission of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) but closed between 2014-15 adding that no bank account was opened for these companies and no transaction was made.

Talking to private TV channel, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin said that the companies were opened when Tariq Malik was working for Bin Laden group. He said that formal permission was taken to invest in his bank.

Shaukat Tareen further said that a Dubai-based company showed interest to invest in his bank.

He said that he is ready at all times as he has done nothing wrong adding that he has all the documentary evidence while PM Imran Khan has been informed that all my assets are declared.

Fayyaz terms Mazdoor Card Scheme ‘unprecedented’

Lahore: Spokesman Punjab government Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Chohan on Sunday said the scope of Mazdoor Card will be expanded to the whole province.

The Punjab Government, he said, for the first time in the history of Pakistan, is introducing Mazdoor Card after Sehat and Kissan cards.

He said with the support of Punjab Bank, 1.1 million workers will get Mazdoor Cards.

He said this card has 11 cash benefits; it will ensure minimum wages to labourers and can be used not only at the government Hospitals, dispensaries of Social Security Institutes throughout the province but also in the enlisted private hospitals.
