12 martyred in suicide explosion near judicial complex Islamabad

Islamabad: A suicide explosion near Judicial Complex (JC) Islamabad has claimed 12 lives and more than 14 persons are reported to have sustained injuries.

The head of suicide bomber was found on the road.

The powerful blast occurred around 12:30pm on Tuesday in a vehicle parked near the Judicial Complex. The sound of the explosion was heard far and wide, and the vehicle caught fire, spreading flames to nearby cars.

According to initial reports at least 12 persons were martyred and dozens were injured in the explosion.

The injured reportedly included the petitioners and lawyers.

The police said the movement of people in Kutchery area at the time of explosion was intense. The visitors were also injured who were shifted to PIMS hospital for emergency medical treatment.

Police said the area has been cordoned off and nature of blast is being determined.

They said the bombing was carried out by India-backed terrorists and the Afghan Taliban's proxy, Fitna al-Khawarij.
