Karachi: Additional District and Sessions Court Karachi East has accepted bail plea of Natasha Danish in Karsaz accident case. The court accepted bail plea of the accused against surety bonds in the sum of Rs one lac. The counsel for the accused took the plea the accused is suffering from mental illness and she is undergoing treatment since August 2005. The accused is holding UK driving license which is valid for 6 months in Pakistan. The legal heirs of victim have forgiven her in the name of Allah Almighty. The counsel for petitioner filed no objection certificate in the court. The court had reserved judgment. The court later while announcing judgment accepted bail plea of the accused. It is pertinent to mention here agreement had been reached between the family members of two victims and prime accused Natasha Danish earlier in car accident case. The family members of victims of car accident Imran Arif and Aamna Arif got prepared the affidavits. Sources said the family of Natasha paid over Rs 5.50 cr ore to family members of victim Aamna as diyat. Amount was paid through pay order.
President Zardari for stronger Navy to protect Pakistan’s geo-economic interests
Karachi: President Asif Ali Zardari has called for making the Pakistan Navy further stronger to protect Pakistan's geo-economic interests as well as defend the maritime frontiers of the country. Welcoming the induction of MILGEM Class Corvette Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Babur and Offshore Patrol Vessel PNS Hunain into the Pakistan Navy (PN) fleet, he said that the ships would enable the Navy to meet its ever-growing operational responsibilities. President Asif Ali Zardari expressed these views while addressing the induction ceremony of PNS Babur and Hunain into the Pakistan Navy fleet, on Friday, at the PN Dockyard, Karachi. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of National Defence Turkiye, Mr Bilal Burdali, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, senior representatives of construction yards, high-ranking officials of the Armed Forces and the political leadership. PNS Babur is a multipurpose ship built and commissioned at Istanbul Naval Shipyard on 23 September 2023. PNS Hunain, an Offshore Patrol Vessel, was built and commissioned at DAMEN Shipyard, Romania on 25 July 2024. Addressing the ceremony, the President highlighted that the induction of PNS Babur and Hunain into the fleet was a milestone achievement in fortifying Pakistan's maritime defence capabilities. He noted that these ships would enhance the operational readiness of the Navy to counter both conventional and asymmetric threats. The President underscored the pivotal role played by the Pakistan Navy in ensuring maritime security, contributing to regional stability, and supporting the country's economic growth by safeguarding sea lanes of communication. He said that the Pakistan Navy was ensuring the continuous flow of maritime commerce and defending our maritime boundaries, in view of the great potential of the blue economy for the country's economic growth. The President reiterated Pakistan's resolve to defend its sovereignty, uphold peace, prosperity, and sta bility, and defend the motherland at all costs. He stated that Defence and Martyrs' Day reminded us of the courage, unity, and determination of our Armed Forces and citizens who defended our nation against external aggression. He paid rich tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives in defence of the motherland. Acknowledging the collaborative efforts involved in the construction of the newly inducted ships, the President expressed his gratitude to the teams from Pakistan, Trkiye, and the Dutch DAMEN Shipyard for their dedication and hard work. "These ships symbolize our strong friendship with Trkiye and our trust in the Dutch DAMEN Shipyard in Romania," he remarked. He added that the development would further boost the Navy's ability to defend the country's maritime boundaries. The President also extended special congratulations to the Commanding Officers and crew of PNS Babur and PNS Hunain, wishing them success in their future endeavours. In his welcome address, the Chief of the Naval Staff termed the induction of the two ships in the PN Fleet as a major milestone in the capacity building of the PN Fleet. He acknowledged the government's full support for providing best possible resources for this purpose. He also acknowledged the professional competence of M/s ASFAT, Istanbul Shipyard, DAMEN Shipyard Galati Romania, and the entire project team for delivering potent ships which showcased the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation between friendly countries.
Alarming situation on missing persons issue , people have abandoned coming to courts: SHC
Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) has remarked during the hearing of case of 6 missing persons including two real brothers that people are worried over the matter of missing persons and they have abandoned coming to courts. The court further observed the situation is very alarming at present The petitions for recovery of 6 missing persons including two real brothers came up for hearing before Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto Thursday. The court while expressing resentment over the performance of investigating officers issued show cause to NADRA for not issuing report regarding two citizens. The court also sought report from Commissioner Karachi, IG Sindh and CIA. The court summoned report from all the provinces and jails across the country in respect of missing citizen Zubair. The court while ordering to paste particulars of the citizens in newspapers and public places summoned travel history of missing citizen Zubair and others in 4 weeks.
SHC suspends the decision on cancellation of degree of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri
Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) has suspended recommendations of unfair means committee of Karachi university and decision of syndicate to cancel the degree of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri of Islamabad High Court (IHC). The case pertaining to degree of justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri came up for hearing before SHC Thursday. The SHC while suspending the recommendations of unfair means committee and decision of syndicate restrained Karachi university from initiating further steps. The court issued notice to Deputy Attorney General (DAG) , Advocate General Sindh and others besides seeking detailed reply from the respondents within 3 weeks. The counsel said Unfair means committee and syndicate had declared degree of Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri ineffective. Justice Salah ud Din Panhwar remarked the case relates to whose degree. University has taken how many decisions like this. The counsel said syndicate has made decision in non transparent manner. Justice Salah ud Din Panhwar inquired the degree r elates to what period. The counsel said it is 30 years old degree. Justice Salah ud Din Panhwar remarked this all has been done on whose plea. Action has been taken on whose complaint. They are saying Islamia law college has written letter. Justice Amjid Ali Sahito remarked the petitioners have what relevance with this case. The petitioner said the petition has been filed by lawyers. Karachi university is not authorized. The counsel said only Judicial commission can take action. Police had lifted and taken away a member of syndicate for 8 hours. Justice Amjid Ali Sahito said don't do political talks here. Person whose degree you are cancelling should be called. Notice should be given to that person. It is pertinent to mention here that syndicate of Karachi university had cancelled the degree and enrolment of a judge of high court on the recommendations of Unfair means committee on August 31.
Ban on coverage of PTI, PTI founder case: SHC suspends PEMRA notification
Karachi: Sindh High Court (SHC) has suspended PEMRA notification in the case pertaining to ban on coverage of PTI and PTI founder. A division bench of SHC comprising Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Jawad Akbar dismissed the appeal filed by PEMRA. PEMRA had filed appeal against the decision in SHC which was heard on Tuesday. Counsel from PTI barrister Ali Tahir presented arguments. Barrister Ali Tahir told the court following the suspension of May 31 notification PEMRA had issued the same notification on November 11, 2023 again. The court suspended both of the notifications of PEMRA. Barrister Ali Tahir said there is no restriction on coverage of PTI and PTI founder at present. The ban imposed by PEMRA was against PEMRA law and constitution. PTI is the largest party of the country. Ban on coverage is against constitution. Division bench issued order for giving final decision by single bench within six weeks. Earlier single bench had suspended notification of PEMRA. It is pertinent to me ntion here single bench of SHC had suspended PEMRA December 4 notification on December 8, 2023 in the case against banning the coverage of Imran Khan's statements. Justice Adnan Iqbal Chaudhry had heard the case against imposition of ban on broadcasting statements of Imran Khan. Barrister Ali Tahir counsel for PTI said imposing ban on broadcasting statements of Imran Khan was violation of law. PEMRA had issued notification regarding ban illegally. Counsel for Imran Khan requested the court PEMRA December 4 notification be declared null and void. Following the completion of arguments by barrister Ali Tahir, the SHC while announcing reserved judgment on the petition filed against ban on broadcasting Imran Khan statements had suspended PEMRA December 4 notification. SHC while issuing notice to PEMRA and federal government on PTI petition had sought reply from the respondents.

A two members bench of SHC took up for hearing PEMRA appeal plea against suspension of its notification regarding ban on coverage of PTI founder statements. The two members bench of SHC while sending the matter to single bench again wrapped up PEMRA appeal. The court remarked final decision of matter related to broadcasting PTI founder statements be given within six weeks. It may be mentioned single bench had suspended PEMRA notification regarding ban on coverage of PTI founder statements . PEMRA had filed appeal plea before the two members bench of SHC against single bench decision.
