Islamabad: During the hearing of the petitions seeking suspension of sentence in 190 million pounds case, Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the Jail authorities to arrange meeting of counsel Suleman Safdar with PTI founder at 2 pm today (Wednesday).
IHC bench comprising Chief Justice (CJ) Sarfraz Dogar and Justice Muhammad Asif took up for hearing the petitions seeking suspension of sentence of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in 190 million pounds case Tuesday.
During the hearing, defence counsel Salman Safdar appeared alongside National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Special Prosecutor Javed Ashraf and prosecutor Rafay Maqsood. The hearing was also attended by the PTI founder's sisters, Aleema Khanum, Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi.
Suleman Safdar counsel for PTI founder appeared in the court and opened the arguments.
During the hearing of the case the Chief Justice (CJ) IHC inquired from Suleman Safdar about miscellaneous petition.
Upon it Suleman Safdar sought permission for meeting with PTI founder.
The court while accepting miscellaneous petition ordered jail administration to arrange meeting of Suleman Safdar with Imran Khan.
On the request of Suleman Safdar, the court ordered jail authorities to arrange meeting of Suleman Safdar with PTI founder at 2 p.m today (Wednesday).
Special prosecutor requested for fixing the hearing till Monday.
The CJ IHC however remarked court fixes date after seeing its engagements.
The CJ remarked " Meet your client. Appeal will too be fixed. if the arguments start then we will try to decide the appeal within 7 days".
Barrister Suleman Safdar counsel for PTI founder opened the arguments.
The CJ IHC inquired you are giving arguments on what case today.
Suleman Safdar replied the court had issued an order on March 31.
The CJ inquired what is your miscellaneous petition . We accept the plea in connection with meeting with PTI founder. You should go and meet PTI founder. Jail authorities should arrange meeting of Suleman Safdar with PTI founder.
The CJ inquired you will want to meet PTI founder today (Wednesday) at what time.
Suleman Safdar replied please fix 2 p.m for meeting today (Wednesday).
The special prosecutor requested if the court fixes hearing on Monday.
CJ remarked we don't know what will be our engagement on Monday. Therefore, we fix date after seeing our engagement .
The court adjourned further hearing till Thursday.
The CJ remarked we will fix the appeal for two days in a week. You should meet the client.
Suleman Safdar said court should not fix appeal just now. I will assist the court after meeting with client.
Please decide the plea for the suspension of conviction to the extent of lady .
The CJ remarked when you start giving arguments on appeal plea then we will decide the appeal plea within seven days.
Suleman Safdar requested the court to hear petitions related to suspension of conviction of Bushra Bibi first.
CJ remarked " we will fix the appeal for hearing on your return after meeting with PTI founder in jail.
