190 million pounds case: IHC stops trial court to announce final decision


Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has stopped the trial court from announcing final decision in 190 million pounds case.

The court while issuing notice to NAB has sought reply from it till Wednesday.

The court remarked lawyers of Imran Khan should not use dilatory tactics in the court. If delaying tactics are used then court will withdraw its order.

A two members bench of IHC comprising Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and justice Babar Sattar heard the petition with registrar office objections on Monday.

Barrister Suleman Safdar and Yousuf Chaudhry advocate counsels for the petitioner appeared in the court.

Suleman Akram Raja, Arif Alvi, Shibli Faraz, Ali Muhammad Khan, Azam Khan and others were present in the court.

During the hearing of the case counsel Suleman Safdar said hearing of reference against Imran Khan is continuing. 35 witnesses have been cross examined. Cross questioning of the last witness investigating officer is underway. There are 8 accused. 6 are proclaimed offender. Case is
going on against husband and wife. The actual allegation is to the extent of Malik Riaz family that they are proclaimed offenders. The charge is this when the petitioner was Prime Minister (PM) he facilitated with reference to 190 million pounds. It is NAB case. The amount was to come in state bank but it came in supreme court. NCA gave the amount. It depends on their will where they use it afterwards.

Al-Qadir trust case is pending hearing against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. Imran Khan was arrested from IHC in Al-Qadir Trust case.

NAB filed reference initially against 8 accused. The court declared other 6 accused proclaimed offender due to their non-presence. Reference is pending hearing against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

According to NAB NCA confiscated 190 million pounds.

Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb inquired was the amount returned.

The counsel Suleman Safdar remarked the amount was sent directly to the account of registrar SC.

The court inquired where is university.

The counsel Suleman Safdar replied university is located near Jhelum and is functional.

Suleman Safdar told it is in reference that Al-Qadir trust case is functional. This is not ghost project.

The court further inquired is this trust registered.

The counsel told the court it is registered.

The court further remarked case is with me and this is not registered.

Suleman Safdar replied I will ascertain about it and tell court on next hearing.

Suleman Safdar argued we filed petition in trial court for summoning NAB executive board meeting record. But trial court rejected our plea for seeking record.

Trial judge wrote surprising reasons for rejecting the plea. Trial judge wrote investigating officer is not author or custodian of this record.
