Islamabad: The 26th Martyrdom anniversary of Kargil Hero Havildar Lalak Jan Nishan-e-Haider observed on Monday.
Havildar Lalak Jan laid down his life while valiantly defending the motherland during Kargil war in 1999. On this day in 1999, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed demonstrated extraordinary valour by fearlessly repelling enemy attacks and defended his post despite sustaining critical injuries. Refusing evacuation, he continued to fight until he embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
The ISPR said his legacy remains a beacon of inspiration for present and future generations of Pakistan Armed Forces.
Meanwhile President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have paid tribute to Havildar Lalak Jan on his 26th martyrdom anniversary.
In a statement, the President said Lalak Jan's sacrifice is a shining example of courage and determination for future generations.
He said Lalak Jan's sacrifice will always be remembered in golden words in the history of Pakistan.
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said Lalak Jan Shaheed foiled the enemy's nefarious designs without caring for his own life and made the ultimate sacrifice for the motherland. He said the enemy's attacks could not diminish the courage of Lalak Jan Shaheed.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said the nation can never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs. He said the martyrs of armed forces and their families are a source of pride for us. He said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the Armed Forces in their unwavering commitment to protect the homeland.
Meanwhile Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), Chief of Army Staff, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Air Staff and the Armed Forces of Pakistan solemnly commemorate and pay heartfelt tribute to Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, honoring his unparalleled courage, unwavering dedication, and supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland during the Kargil conflict.
Meanwhile Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi paid rich tribute to Havaldar Lalak Jan, brave son of Gilgit-Baltistan, on his Martyrdom anniversary. Mohsin Naqvi stated that Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed wrote a glowing chapter of national defense with unmatched courage and his tale of valor will forever be the pride of the nation and a historical legacy.
Mohsin Naqvi said that Lalak Jan, who stood firm against the enemy, became an unforgettable guardian of the motherland's borders and was immortalized forever. He further stated that Lalak Jan moved to the frontlines, stood resolute in the face of the enemy and set the highest example of bravery and patriotism.
Interior Minister stated that despite being seriously injured in intense enemy shelling, Lalak Jan did not abandon his post-demonstrating a level of resolve that will forever be etched in history. He emphasized that he fiercely resisted the enemy's onslaught, lives on in the hearts of the nation. He highlighted that rare are the soldiers in military history whose every step exudes loyalty, courage, and sacrifice-and Lalak Jan was one of those timeless warriors.
Mohsin Naqvi underscored that Lalak Jan's unmatched bravery proved that it is the spirit of martyrs through which nations win wars. He said that he is a shining symbol of Pakistan's military honor, national sovereignty, and strength.
Interior Minister said that Lalak Jan Shaheed is a national hero and will forever live in our hearts. He added that the nation salutes his gallantry of as he embraced martyrdom manifesting highest pinnacle of bravery.
