3 employees of Adiala Jail suspended under charges of negligence, corruption

Rawalpindi: 3 employees of Adiala jail including assistant superintendent have been suspended on the charges of negligence and corruption.

IG Jails Punjab has issued show cause notices to all of these employees.

The suspended employees include Assistant superintendent Imran Shahzad, Incharge goods search ward, Sohail Ahmad and Shafqat Navid. This action was taken during the surprise visit of DG Monitoring Home Department Athar Saeed.

During his visit Rs 18220 were recovered from the socks of Warder Sohail Ahmad, This amount was taken from the visitors as bribe. Likewise Warder Sohail Ahmad has been suspended due to his alleged involvement in bribery.

Warder Shafqat Navid has been suspended on his failure to prevent illegal activities while assistant superintendent Imran Shahzad has been suspended for his failure to stop the illegal activities of his subordinate staff.

Reply has been sought from all of them within three days.

Home department has summoned these three suspended employees in person on March 25 for hearing. They may face dismissal from service or heavy fine under PEEDA act if their reply is not found satisfactory.
