Islamabad: 3 prisoners from Adiala jail have filed petitions in Islamabad High Court (IHC) in connection with their treatment from private hospitals and their meeting with their family members following court's orders regarding Imran Khan's treatment from private hospital.

IHC while issuing notice to Adiala jail authorities has sought parawise comments from Superintendent Adiala jail. The petitions filed by prisoners Ilyas Khan, Muhammad Ismail Khan and Owais Altaf came up for hearing before justice Muhammad Asif of IHC.

Barrister Akhtar Cheena argued the petitioner is suffering from hemophilia disease and there is internal bleeding. He was brought to hospital for 10 times in two months but he got no relief. The treatment to this disease is possible only in Al-Shifa hospital in Pakistan.

Barrister Akhtar Cheena argued that there is Supreme Court (SC) decision if treatment of disease is not available in government hospital then the prisoner can be shifted to private hospital.

SC decision has made it clear in the decision that the family members of prisoner can afford the expenses of the treatment.

Relying on SC decision it is requested that medical board be constituted. If liver transplant is not available in government hospital then will this prisoner be not shifted to private hospital.

Said Jaffar counsel for petitioner Owais Altaf argued in the court while appearing in the court through video link Owais Altaf is heart patient and suffering from fever. Getting proper treatment is basic right of the prisoner. Treatment in government hospital is not possible, therefore, order be issued to shift him to Shifa hospital.

The counsel for third prisoner argued the petitioner Muhammad Ismail is imprisoned in Adiala jail since 9 years . One brother is in Dubai but there is no connection between them since so many years. Jail authorities be ordered to arrange his talks with his brother through whatsapp call.

The court while issuing notice to jail authorities in three cases for reply has adjourned the hearing of the case till August 27.
