7 martyred over 18 injured in explosion in Lakki Marwat


Lakki marwat: Seven people including two police personnel have been martyred and several others have been injured in an explosion in the Sarai Naurang tehsil of Lakki Marwat District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tuesday.



According to elementary police reports, the explosion may have been caused due to explosive material installed in motorcycle.



According to police, the blast occurred near a rickshaw in Naurang Bazaar in the Sarai Naurang area.



Bodies and injured are being shifted to Tehsil Headquarters hospital Sarai Naurang.



According to a spokesperson for the district police officer, Qudratullah Khan, the injured included a teenage girl and a woman, while several others were shifted to hospitals in Bannu for treatment.



The police said the identities of the martyred officers were Adil Jan and Rahatullah.



Authorities said it was not yet confirmed whether the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device placed in a loader rickshaw or a suicide attack. Bomb Disposal Squad experts have been deployed to determine the exact nature of the blast.



The spokesperson added that traffic police personnel were present at the busy square to regulate movement between Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan at the time of the incident.



Following the blast, a heavy police contingent led by the Naurang Circle DSP reached the site, cordoned off the area, and collected evidence for investigation.



According to hospital administration 7 bodies have been brought in hospital.



As per RESCUE authorities 7 persons including 2 traffic police constable were killed and several were injured in the blast. LHC Rahat Ullah and Adil Jan both were killed in blast. RESCUE 1122 has shifted bodies and injured to hospital.



RESCUE sources said one woman too succumbed to injuries in hospital raising the casualties to 8.



Chief Minister (CM) KP Sohail Afridi has taken notice of explosion besides seeking report of incident from IG Police.



CM KP has expressed sorrow and grief over martyrdom of 7 persons including 2 traffic police men in the incident. He has condoled with bereaved families saying provincial government will extend every possible cooperation.



Governor KP Faisal Karim Kundi while condemning the blast has expressed heartfelt grief over loss of lives of innocent people in the explosion.
