Islamabad: A gas cylinder explosion has occurred in the basement canteen of the Supreme Court (SC) building leaving 8 persons injured.

The injured were shifted to hospital immediately for treatment.

As per initial reports during repair work on the central air-conditioning system in SC basement. The sudden blast sent shockwaves through the building.

The lawyers, staff and visitors came out of the building forthwith.

The investigations into incident are underway.
