Hyderabad: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid met with public representatives and party leaders in Hyderabad on Tuesday.During the meeting held at Shahbaz Hall, the Mayor of Hyderabad, Kashif Shoro, MPA Saima Agha, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh Information Secretary Ajiz Damra, PPP leader Azhar Ali Sial, Ladies Wing President Sanam Talpur, Syed Ali Hassan Shah, Umair Chandio, Noor-un-Nisa Abro, Zahida Memon, and others were present.The meeting began with Fateha and prayers for the eternal peace of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto. Senator Rubina Khalid addressed the attendees, emphasizing that 9.3 million deserving women are being provided financial assistance through the Benazir Kafalat Program. She highlighted that this initiative has empowered women by giving them both identity and economic independence. Furthermore, she pointed out the global demand for skilled labor and shared that the Benazir Skill Development Program will provide technical training to the childre n of deserving women, enabling them to secure employment abroad.Senator Rubina Khalid reiterated that there is no registration fee or form for the Benazir Income Support Program, and all communications are sent exclusively from the number 8171. Public representatives and PPP office bearers raised concerns about ensuring the inclusion of deserving women in the Benazir Kafalat Program in Hyderabad and the establishment of a tehsil office in Tando Jam.The Chairperson responded by addressing misinformation about the program. She stated that some elements had spread false propaganda and attempted to change the program's name but were unsuccessful. She emphasized that the Benazir Income Support Program is not just a social safety initiative but also a revolutionary initiative for women's autonomy and recognition. She urged public representatives to inform women about the benefits they are receiving and to register their personal mobile numbers to prevent exploitation.During the meeting, local political and go vernment representatives from Hyderabad brought up the challenges faced by women in the district under the Benazir Income Support Program and consulted the Chairperson on possible solutions.Talking to the media at the Mayor's Secretariat, Senator Rubina Khalid reiterated that the goal of the Benazir Income Support Program is to help the poor and provide dignified financial assistance. She stated that the program continues to improve, with the aim of ensuring beneficiaries receive their payments with respect.She also announced the initiation of the re-certification process, which will involve a re-survey of previously registered households every three years. In addition, she shared that the quarterly installment under the Benazir Kafalat Program has been increased from Rs. 10,500 to Rs. 13,500.Addressing rumors that government employees were benefiting from BISP, she clarified that such claims were baseless and were part of smear campaign against the organization. She assured the public that BISP's datab ase is linked with NADRA and that only digital registration is accepted. She reminded everyone that the official communication number for the program is 8171.Senator Rubina Khalid visited the payment center and dynamic registration office established at the BISP District Office in Jamshoro. During the visit, she was joined by MPA Hina Dastgir, Vice President of PPP Women Wing Jamshoro District Yasmin Kirmani, Sanam Unnar, Sameera Odhu, and Bibi Agnes.The Chairperson directed the staff to ensure the provision of essential amenities, including clean drinking water, adequate shelter, and other necessary facilities to deserving women, in order to maintain dignified and supportive environment at center. She also interacted with the women present at the payment center, listened to their concerns, and issued directives for the redressal. In addition, she planted a sapling within the office premises.Chairperson Rubina Khalid also visited the Benazir Nashonuma Center in Kotri, District Jamshoro. During the vis it, she inspected various sections of the center and engaged with the women there, further emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in empowering women and improving their socio-economic status.
