ISLAMABAD:Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered not to give reference of acquittal case in character certificate.

The court declared illegal the reference of FIR in character certificate after acquittal besides directing IG Islamabad to evolve procedure.

The court has directed that the reference of the case be not given in character certificate on acquittal from case.

The court remarked it is not essential to come to court for the sake of right which the law has given to the citizens.

The court accepted the plea of citizen.

The court said there is no legal room for showing FIR in police character certificate which ends in eventual acquittal. Police can keep internal record with it but it cannot be put in the certificate of citizen who is going abroad. The acquitted person cannot be presented as criminal.

IHC remarked that entry of FIR after acquittal is violation of article 14, 15 and 94 of the constitution
