Islamabad: Acting Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan has congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Parliamentary Reporters Association of Pakistan (PRAP), emphasizing that democracy and journalism have always remained inseparable partners in strengthening parliamentary traditions and promoting transparency. He felicitated President M.B. Soomro, Vice President Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar, Secretary Naveed Akbar, Joint Secretary Aurangzeb Kakar, Finance Secretary Shakir Abbasi, Information Secretary Javed Hussain, and governing body members Asiya Ansar, Ahmad Nawaz Khan, Hafiz Abdul Majid, Umer Hayat Khan, Javed Noor, Ghulam Rasool Kunbhar, and Rozeena Ali, terming their election a reflection of trust by their peers in their professional integrity and dedication.
Syedaal Khan expressed satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of elections and said the outcome represents acknowledgment of the elected members' services. He underlined that parliamentary reporters serve as a bridge between the legislature and the public, ensuring citizens remain informed about legislative developments. 'The Press Gallery is an integral part of Parliament. Parliamentary reporters play a pivotal role in bringing the legislative process closer to the people.
The true spirit of democracy flourishes only when independent journalism is promoted,' he stated. He hoped the new PRAP leadership will address challenges faced by journalists and enhance their professional contribution. The Acting Chairman assured full cooperation of the Senate Secretariat and reiterated that the relationship between the Upper House and PRAP will continue to grow stronger.
