Lahore: Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has strongly condemned the police crackdown and arrests of workers during the public press conference of Jamaat-e-Islami in Karachi. During a meeting of the Jamaat-e-Islami Central Shoora in Lahore, a unanimous resolution was passed against the Sindh government's fascist and undemocratic conduct.The resolution stated that the Sindh government, by trampling democratic values, has resorted to oppression and coercion against those raising their voices for public rights, which is unacceptable under any circumstances. Jamaat-e-Islami made it clear that imposing restrictions on peaceful and democratic activities for the restoration of public rights amounts to outright authoritarianism.The Shoora's resolution further said that the Pakistan Peoples Party, which claims to be a champion of democracy, cannot suppress public protest through oppressive tactics. Jamaat-e-Islami will strongly resist these fascist measures of the Sindh government at eve ry level. The resolution also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all arrested workers, including the Acting Emir JI Karachi Muslim Parvez.
