Peshawar: The Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical University, Professor Zia-ul-Haq, has said that the present and future of the world lie in the hands of AI and our youth. He mentioned that the proportion of young people in our country is the highest in the world, and they are talented but need encouragement. He expressed these thoughts while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 8th DUHS-DICE Health Innovation Exhibition as a chief guest
In addition to him, the honorary guest and Director of Bosch, Sheikh Farhan Chawla, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Nazli Hossain, Registrar Asher Afaq, Director of DICE Health USA, Dr. Sohail Hassan, Chairman of the DICE Foundation Dr. Khurshid Qureshi, and Chief Organizer of DICE, Professor Kashif Shafiq also addressed the ceremony.
The exhibition was held at the cricket ground of the Ojha Campus of Dow University of Health Sciences, where students from 30 universities across Pakistan presented over 2800 innovative projects.
During his address at the inauguration ceremony, the chief guest and Vice Chancellor of Khyber Medical College, Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, appreciated the creative thinking and dedication of the students. He assured them that they would not face any obstacles in their development journey and that they would receive support in their endeavours. He stressed the importance of teachers learning new technologies while preserving their identity and working on technology according to local needs. He also lauded the efforts of Dow University in organizing the DICE exhibition.
Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazli Hossain expressed happiness over the achievements of the students and mentioned that AI has been included in the curriculum to prepare students for the future. She expressed joy over the students' successes and stated that they were fortunate to be part of this exhibition.
Director of Bosch and honorary guest Sheikh Farhan Chawla emphasized the importance of AI, mentioning that hundreds Elon Musks would emerge from among the students. He highlighted that Pakistan is not lacking in talent, and there is no shortage of data required for AI in the country. He mentioned that European experts have stated that the data available from Pakistan is unmatched elsewhere. He warned that if AI is not embraced, Pakistan will lag far behind.
Dr. Sohail Hassan declared the students as "real heroes" and praised their creativity and innovation, asserting that these young people are the future of the world. He expressed astonishment at the ideas presented and wished all participants well.
Dr. Khurshid Qureshi, Chairman of the DICE Foundation, appreciated the innovation in robotic injection by Mir Imran, stating that AI is changing the world, and we must keep pace with it. He expressed concern over the use of drugs among the youth and pledged to innovate solutions to address this issue.
In his concluding remarks at the exhibition, Registrar Dr. Asher Afaq lauded the efforts of the students and emphasized that their guidance has been instrumental in making this event successful to promote healthcare innovation and research. Later, KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia-ul-Haq formally inaugurated the exhibition.
