Islamabad: Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences, Air University, successfully organized the 2nd International Conference on Recent Trends in Statistics and Data Analytical Sciences (ICRTSDAS-2025) on Monday, at its main campus in Islamabad.

The conference brought together eminent researchers, academicians, data scientists, and professionals from across Pakistan and abroad to discuss the latest developments in statistics, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and applied sciences.

The Inaugural Session began with the national anthem and recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Ammara Nawaz Cheema, Chair of the Conference. Air Marshal (Rtd.) Abdul Moeed Khan, HI(M), Vice Chancellor of Air University, addressed the audience, highlighting the growing importance of data-driven decision-making in policy and research. The Chief Guest, Dr. Naeem uz Zafar (SI), Chief Statistician, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, delivered the inaugural address, emphasizing the role of modern data analytical tools in national development.

The conference featured keynote talks by distinguished international scholars, including Prof. Dr. Shahjahan Khan, Emeritus Professor, University of Southern Queensland, Australia, and Vice Chancellor, Asian University Bangladesh. Dr. Fereshteh Osmani, Biostatistician, Torbay Hydariyeh University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Dr. Carolina Franco, Principal Statistician, NORC at the University of Chicago, USA.

Over 100 research papers were presented in 11 technical sessions, covering diverse areas such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Probability and Statistical Modelling, Health and Environmental Statistics, Computing and Applied Statistics. Experts from academia and industry engaged in panel discussions on the integration of data analytics in health, environment, and national development sectors. The event also included poster presentations, networking sessions, and a city tour and dinner for delegates.

The closing ceremony was graced by Nadeem Mahbub, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, who appreciated the efforts of Air University in promoting data-driven research culture and fostering international collaboration. Dr. Asghari Maqsood delivered the vote of thanks. The conference concluded with shield presentations, group photos, and a renewed commitment to advancing research in data analytics and statistical sciences for sustainable development.
