Lahore: Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan President Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman has inaugurated the Alkhidmat Hospital in Malakand, established to provide quality and affordable healthcare facilities to the people of Thana and adjoining areas.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by former senior provincial minister and Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North Ameer Inayatullah Khan, Alkhidmat Regional President Fazal Mahmood, Alkhidmat Health CEO Sufyan Ahmed Khan, other officials of the foundation, political and social figures and a large number of volunteers.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hafeezur Rehman said healthcare was a basic human need and that Alkhidmat Foundation was working to provide quality medical services to people in remote areas as well as to the general public. He said the foundation had established a nationwide healthcare network comprising 60 hospitals, 55 medical centres, 300 ambulances and 136 laboratories and collection centres. In addition, 16 mobile health units were providing medical services in remote and underserved areas. 'More than 10 million people benefit from Alkhidmat's health programme every year,' he said.
Prof. Dr. Hafeezur Rehman said Alkhidmat hospitals and medical centres provided treatment in various specialties, diagnostic services, laboratory tests, ultrasound facilities, medicines and other healthcare services. Free or highly subsidised treatment was also provided to deserving patients, he added. He said the establishment of the Alkhidmat Hospital in Malakand, keeping in view the healthcare needs of the area and its surrounding communities, would provide an important medical facility to local residents.
He appreciated the efforts of Alkhidmat officials, donors, hospital administration, doctors, medical staff and volunteers who contributed to the construction and operationalisation of the hospital. Alkhidmat Foundation President said Alkhidmat's objective was not merely to establish hospitals but to develop an integrated healthcare network through hospitals, medical centres, ambulance services, laboratories, collection centres, pharmacies, medical camps and mobile health units.
Later, Prof. Dr. Hafeezur Rehman, accompanied by other officials, visited different departments of the hospital, reviewed the facilities available there and met members of the hospital administration and medical staff.
