Lahore: A significant press conference was held at the Alkhidmat Head Office in Lahore to mark the launch of Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan's 'Qurbani Fi Sabilillah 2025' project.
On this occasion, President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman stated that, as in previous years, this year too, Alkhidmat is arranging Qurbani for the underprivileged across the country, including the poor, needy, orphans, prisoners, widows, and the transgender community.
In addition to Pakistan, Qurbani meat will also be safely delivered to Palestinian refugees through sacrifices conducted in Egypt, Jordan, Jerusalem, and the West Bank. This year, the target is to sacrifice 6,000 large animals and 4,000 small animals, providing meat to over 2 million deserving individuals across Pakistan.
Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman announced that, like last Eid-ul-Azha, he will celebrate this Eid with Palestinian refugees and personally distribute sacrificial meat to Gaza victims currently in Egypt, to ensure they do not feel alone during the Eid celebrations. He added that overseas Pakistanis and Muslim NGOs have deep trust in Alkhidmat and entrust their Qurbani to the foundation, which fulfills it in complete accordance with Islamic principles and ethical standards, along with proper reporting.
Vice President Alkhidmat, Zikrullah Mujahid, highlighted that Alkhidmat has a nationwide network across all provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Trained volunteers, supervisory committees, and veterinary experts oversee every stage of the process from animal selection and care to proper religious slaughter and transparent distribution.
He further explained that Alkhidmat has modernized all Qurbani processes through experimental cattle farms, advanced slaughterhouses, chiller transport, and dignified delivery to recipients. Additionally, public awareness campaigns are conducted on religious awareness, hygiene, and the care of sacrificial hides. This ensures quality, transparency, and the preservation of recipients' dignity in the Qurbani process, he added.
He also pointed out that in 2024, the poverty rate increased by 7%, with an additional 13 million Pakistanis falling into poverty. There are countless families struggling even for two meals a day. In such difficult times, while Alkhidmat continues its efforts across various fronts, it also ensures that meat reaches the needy through the Qurbani project, he said.
The press conference, presided over by Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan's President Dr. Hafeezur Rehman, was attended by Vice President Zikrullah Mujahid, President Alkhidmat Punjab Ikramul Haq Subhani, Secretary General Alkhidmat Lahore Region Professor Dr. Ijaz Nazir, and National Director Alkhidmat Community Services Amir Mehmood Cheema.
