Alkhidmat introduces advanced NAT blood screening system in Karachi

Karachi: On the occasion of World Blood Donor Day, Alkhidmat introduced an advanced blood screening NAT (Nucleic Acid Testing) System, Sunsure, in Karachi. The system will enable the early detection of viruses and infectious agents present in donated blood. This modern technology will significantly enhance the safety of blood donations and reduce the risk of transmission of serious diseases such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV to patients receiving blood transfusions.An inauguration ceremony and seminar for the Advanced Blood Screening NAT System (Sunsure) were held on Saturday evening at Alkhidmat Diagnostic Services, Nazimabad. The event was addressed by Executive Director Alkhidmat Karachi, Rashid Qureshi, Director Diagnostic Services Dr. Azeemuddin, Head of Department at Dow University (Ojha Campus) Dr. Uzma, Head of Business at Hora Pharma Muhammad Umair, Saqib Qazi, and Chief Pathologist Dr. Zeeshan Hussain. Senior Manager Anwar Alam, other officials, and in-charges of blood banks from across the city also attended the event.The speakers highlighted that the NAT screening system makes the blood transfusion process more reliable and secure, ensuring better protection of patients, particularly those suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia, and other conditions requiring regular blood transfusions. They noted that NAT screening is considered one of the most effective and important tools in modern blood banking to ensure blood safety and quality.The speakers further stated that Alkhidmat's initiative to introduce the NAT screening system is a commendable step toward ensuring the safe transfusion of healthy blood. The system was launched on World Blood Donor Day as part of efforts to improve healthcare standards. They emphasized that promoting awareness and encouraging voluntary blood donation among individuals aged 18 to 60 years is the need of the hour. They also pointed out that people around the world donate blood on this day and that a single blood donation can save up to three lives.Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director Alkhidmat Karachi Rashid Qureshi said that it is a matter of pride for Alkhidmat to bring innovation to diagnostic services while introducing high-quality healthcare facilities. He added that the NAT screening system will enable all blood banks across the city to avail blood screening services at highly affordable rates, ensuring safer blood transfusions for patients in need.
