Karachi: Alkhidmat Karachi has added three more buses to its funeral transport fleet, bringing the total number of buses to 22. A simple ceremony was held at Alkhidmat's Head Office yesterday to mark the occasion.

The ceremony was attended by CEO Alkhidmat Karachi Naveed Ali Baig, Executive Director Rashid Qureshi, Jamaat-e-Islami District SITE West Ameer Dr. Noor-ul-Haq, District Gadap Ameer Irfan Ahmed, Director Community Services Umar Qaim Khani, Senior Manager Community Services Sarfaraz Sheikh, and other officials. The keys of the three buses were handed over to the respective local offices to enable residents of these areas to access the funeral transport service. Sarfaraz Sheikh briefed the participants on the services provided through Alkhidmat's funeral buses.

Speaking on the occasion, Alkhidmat Karachi CEO Naveed Ali Baig said the three funeral buses had been assigned to local offices so that people in these areas could benefit from the service. He said that while other funeral transport services were also operating in the city, Alkhidmat was providing its service at 50 percent or even lower rates, enabling more people to avail themselves of the facility. He said Alkhidmat's Community Services Department was serving people in need across various areas of life. At a time when the cost of living was continuously rising, Alkhidmat was making every effort to provide subsidized or completely free services through its health, education, Orphan Care and other programmes, with the aim of making life easier for people.

Naveed Ali Baig said Alkhidmat's fleet of funeral buses was the largest in Pakistan, having now reached 22 vehicles. He added that the buses were equipped with all the basic facilities required for funeral transportation. He further announced that Alkhidmat would soon introduce an online booking system for its funeral bus service, making it easier for citizens to access the facility. He said work on the online booking system was currently under way. The CEO also appealed to well-off individuals to support Alkhidmat's welfare initiatives and contribute towards its efforts to serve the community.
