KARACHI:Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Munem Zafar Khan, has inaugurated the Alkhidmat Korangi Hospital following its expansion and renovation, bringing the facility up to modern standards.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by CEO Alkhidmat Karachi Naveed Ali Baig, Executive Director Rashid Qureshi, Korangi District Ameer Mirza Farhan Baig, Director Medical Services Dr. Saqib Ansari and other officials. Local dignitaries and residents also attended the event.
Addressing the ceremony as the chief guest, Munem Zafar Khan said the hospital was a valuable gift for the people of Korangi and Landhi. The 20-bed facility provides modern and quality services in ophthalmology, dentistry, general medicine, gynaecology, ultrasound and laboratory testing. He said efforts to further enhance the hospital's facilities would continue. He observed that Alkhidmat, despite being a non-governmental organisation, had made a significant contribution to the healthcare sector. Over the past year, 3.2 million people had benefited from Alkhidmat's hospitals and services. He added that Alkhidmat continues to work towards providing modern healthcare facilities at its six hospitals across the city.
Munem Zafar Khan also highlighted Alkhidmat's state-of-the-art Diagnostic Centre in Nazimabad, which is equipped with advanced medical technology and offers some of the most affordable diagnostic tests in the city. He regretted that Alkhidmat was undertaking work that should essentially be the responsibility of the state, pointing out that public hospitals often failed to provide adequate facilities, with some unable to meet even people's basic healthcare needs. In an environment of rising inflation and unemployment, he said, people's difficulties had increased, making access to healthcare and education even more challenging. He noted that Alkhidmat had been serving communities for 50 years and had become a symbol of service and integrity.
Whether during earthquakes, floods or the COVID-19 pandemic, he said, the organisation had always remained at the forefront of humanitarian assistance. He urged all hospital employees to serve patients with dedication, hard work and honesty. He reaffirmed that efforts would continue to modernise Alkhidmat's hospitals and equip them with facilities and medical technology that meet contemporary healthcare requirements.
Alkhidmat Karachi CEO Naveed Ali Baig said that the hospital had already been operational, but its expansion and renovation had become necessary. He said the work had now been completed, by the grace of Allah, without closing the hospital for even a single day. He added that the hospital had been transformed into a modern healthcare facility, receiving around 600 patients daily and having 40 consultants available. He further announced that, God willing, the hospital would be expanded by another 40 beds within the next six months. Baig said Alkhidmat was continuously working to raise the standard of medical services across its hospitals. He described the hospital's transformation as the result of the team's round-the-clock efforts.
Alkhidmat Director Medical Services Dr. Saqib Ansari briefed the gathering on the modern treatments and healthcare facilities available at Alkhidmat hospitals, as well as the number of people benefiting from these services. He said Alkhidmat was committed to providing quality, affordable and modern healthcare to the public. Korangi District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Mirza Farhan Baig appreciated Alkhidmat's contributions in healthcare and other fields and expressed his gratitude for the expansion and renovation of Alkhidmat Korangi Hospital.
