All should be held accountable: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi

Islamabad: Shahid Khaqan Abbasi leader of Awam Pakistan Party has said government has failed in controlling governance and corruption while questions have been raised on judiciary as well in IMF report but government has concealed the report from the people.

He said this while addressing a press conference along with party leader Miftah Hussain in Islamabad Thursday.

He pointed out IMF has published a report wherein such things are mentioned which affect economy of the country.

There were no new things in IMF report, he remarked. Government has neither succeeded in improving governance nor containing corruption. Questions have been raised on judiciary too in IMF report. We will have to take this report seriously.

He raised question why the government has concealed this report from people. This report has come before people after six months. Inflation has soared to highest degree of the history in Pakistan. Its ratio stands now at 7.1 percent. Youths are leaving the country and going abroad. No reforms could be made in perspective of economy.

IMF report is only with reference to federal government and if provincial governments are included then corruption amount will surge. It is beyond comprehension why government is unable to remove these ills.

IMF report talks of rule of law particularly. Many questions have been raised on the performance of judiciary.

IMF says accountability system has failed. There is no solution other than dialogue in Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif is political leader. He can say what he wills. We will talk to the person who talks of interest of Pakistan.

Our objective is very clear that country cannot run without constitution.

All should be held accountable. Will you run the country or continue to carry out accountability.
