Islamabad: Secretary General Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Ameerul Azeem, stated that the United Nations has been exposed due to its failure to stop the war in Gaza.
Ameerul Azeem made these remarks while addressing the second session on the second day of the Palestine International Conference organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan in Islamabad on Sunday.
Palestinian scholar Dr. Sami Al-Arian, former Federal Minister for Information Mushahid Hussain Syed, former Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani, former Senator Javed Jabbar, and former Nazm-e-Ahla Islami Jamiat Talaba Pakistan, Shakeel Ahmed, also addressed the session.
Ameerul Azeem stated that the war that began in Gaza on October 7 has made it clear who stands for peace and who supports war. 'The United Nations has been exposed as it failed to stop the war, and Muslim countries have also been exposed for doing nothing for the Palestinians. The real issue today is fulfilling responsibilities,' he added.
He further stated, 'We choose the path of peace, not war, but if no other option remains, we will fight-even if it requires thousands of sacrifices. History has changed, and the images of those who changed history are now displayed on these walls. We may give up our lives, but we will never abandon Gaza. When the people took charge of defending their land, the fall of the Muslim world came to a halt.'
'We pay tribute to the people of London and the United States who protested in support of the people of Gaza and declared that Palestine will be free,' he stated.
Talking about a two-state solution is a distraction from the real issue, Palestinian scholar Dr. Sami Al-Arian said, adding the Zionist movement aims to dominate the entire Arab world and seeks to establish hegemony over the region. 'There is no justice here-only the powerful are heard. Palestinians have the right to return to their homeland, and instead of discussing a two-state solution, we should focus on what is truly just: Palestine belongs to the Palestinians. International laws also recognize this right,' he added.
Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed said: 'For Palestinians, their struggle is their life. I salute the martyrs of Palestine. Leaders like Ismail Haniyeh and Yahya Sinwar have sacrificed their lives for the cause.There are two key issues that shaped Pakistan's foreign policy even before its independence-Kashmir and Palestine.'
'Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was the first to write to the U.S. President, urging not to recognize Israel. Pakistan has actively supported Palestine, even participating in two Arab-Israeli wars. The Pakistan Air Force shot down two Israeli fighter jets in these conflicts,' he remarked.
He further stated Pakistan has also accepted Hamas prisoners who were released by Israel. Hamas is a democratically elected organization that represents the people of Gaza.
He said armed resistance against Israeli aggression and occupation is legitimate and not terrorism. 'The U.S. and Israel's dominance in the Middle East must not be accepted. The State of Palestine must be recognized, with Jerusalem as its capital. Quaid-e-Azam had no financial resources, yet he succeeded in creating Pakistan,' he added.
Former Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani expressed his gratitude to Jamaat-e-Islami for inviting him to the Palestine Conference. He stated, "I have always stood against American imperialism."
He further stated that what we are witnessing in Palestine today has been unfolding for the past 15 months. 'U.S. President Donald Trump had proposed a plan to cleanse Gaza, which involved forcibly displacing its people and resettling them in Egypt and Jordan. This would be a new genocide of the people of Gaza. Emptying Gaza of its native population would be a grave injustice against its people,' he remarked.
Former Senator Javed Jabbar expressed his gratitude to Jamaat-e-Islami for inviting him to the conference. He stated that Jamaat-e-Islami is Pakistan's most democratic party, as it consistently holds internal elections.
He pointed out that there are only three countries in the world where the democratic process has remained continuous-the United States, Israel, and India, adding however, Palestine's neighboring countries lack democracy.
Shakeel Ahmed, former Nazim-e-Aala of Islami Jamiat Talaba Pakistan, also addressed the gathering.
