Lahore: Lahore Police have released their annual performance report for 2024, highlighting significant achievements in operations against drug trafficking and gambling. According to the report, 10,566 individuals were arrested for drug-related offenses and 10,251 cases were registered.
The spokesman Lahore Police stated in statemtemt that substantial quantities of narcotics were seized during the year, including 7,805 kg of hashish, 436 kg of opium, 285 kg of heroin, 176 kg of ice and 77,190 liters of alcohol. In addition, 5,065 suspects were detained for gambling-related activities, resulting in 1,212 cases being registered and the recovery of over PKR 18.9 million in cash from the offenders.
Capital City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana reiterated the department's zero-tolerance policy toward drug traffickers and gamblers. He directed divisional officers to sustain operations against gambling and enhance intelligence-based actions to nab drug trafficking networks.
The CCPO stressed the importance of collaboration with line depts for more effective anti-drug efforts. He directed the officers to keep a close watch on habitual offenders involved in gambling and to develop comprehensive strategies to counter online drug trade and organized crime. Lahore Police remains committed to making the city free of criminal elements, the CCPO concluded.
