Islamabad: Another petition has been filed in Supreme Court (SC) against the proposed constitutional amendments by government.Azhar Siddique advocate, Punjab opposition leader Ahmad Khan and PTI Lahore president Sheikh Imtiaz Mehmood have resorted to SC. Civil society president Abdullah Malik is also included in petitioners.Federal law ministry, all the four provinces, speaker national assembly, senate, principal secretaries of prime minister and President are made respondents in the petition.It has been said in the petition the proposed constitutional amendments be declared against the constitution. Federal government be restrained from placing the proposed constitutional amendments in the parliament. The independence of judiciary is basic ingredient of constitution of Pakistan under resolution of Pakistan. The amendments in articles 238 and 239 will annihilate independence of judiciary. Parliament is not authorized to make amendment in basic components of constitution. Parliament is not mandate d to weaken a key pillar of the state.It is must the induction of judges process should be free from any politics. Inclusion of parliamentarians in judicial commission runs contrary to the principle of distribution of powers. Extension in term of judge is also against constitution of Pakistan. The justice system will stand paralyzed by running constitutional court and parliament. These all amendments were worked out secretly and in the darkness of night which testify malafide intent.
