Islamabad: Another petition has been filed in Supreme Court (SC) against proposed constitutional amendments.With the filing of this petition total number of petitions submitted against the proposed constitutional amendments have come to 5 in apex court.New petition has been filed by advocate Saim Chaudhry making federal government, speaker National Assembly (NA) and chairman Senate respondents.The petitioner has taken the plea that federal government cannot make amendments in conflict with the constitution. The amendments related to judiciary are tantamount to suppress independence of judiciary. The proposed constitutional amendments run contrary to the basic rights. Government wants to abolish the powers of supreme court and high court through the constitutional amendments.The petitioner has requested the SC to declare the proposed constitutional amendments against the constitution besides nullifying them. Any amendment related to judiciary be sent to all stake holders after scrutiny.
