APHC Urges World Powers to Take Role in Resolving Kashmir Dispute

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called on world powers to play their role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas said in Srinagar that it is the responsibility of the UN, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and major world powers to end the political injustice faced by Kashmiris under India's occupation since 1947. He stressed that the non-implementation of the January 5, 1949 UNSC resolution continues to undermine the credibility of the international community.

The 1949 resolution had supported the Kashmiri people's right to determine their future through a UN-sponsored plebiscite.

Meanwhile, posters along the Rajouri-Jammu highway have urged the UN and other world powers to ensure the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination, emphasizing that the Right to Self-Determination Day reminds the global community of its obligation to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UNSC resolutions and Kashmiri aspirations.
